Can’t Remember Her Name

The things that come back to haunt me and walk my room at night

Can be nothing at all like a dream that will vanish in the light

They’re memories from long ago that lodge inside your brain

They’re memories of your first love when you can’t remember her name.

v

They used to say what’s in a name Well, I’ve got the face in a picture frame

Let’s say the passing years are to blame I can’t remember her name.

Just her name would complete the story it’s on the tip of my tongue

I see her face, I smell her hair it’s her name that just won’t come

And I wonder if it really matters there’s no warmth in a long dead flame

You never forget your first love but I can’t remember her name.
